With a diploma of chemistry engineer (School of Industrial Chemistry of Lyon) and a PhD in analytical chemistry, Pierre joined the Setaram company in 1976 as an application engineer. After 10 years of experience in the application laboratory on various thermal analysis and calorimetric techniques, he gets the position of R&D manager. In this position he has been in charge of the development of new instruments in the field of DSC, TGA, TMA and calorimetry. In 1997, he was nominated as the general manager of Setaram.

In 1999 he started his own consulting company Therm@l Consulting and became the scientific advisor for Setaram, especially in USA. He has established collaborations with different research centers to develop new calorimetric techniques and has organize many seminars and trainings in the field of thermal analysis and calorimetry.

Since 2009, he is back at Setaram as the scientific director of the company.

Pierre was the president of the French group of thermal analysis and calorimetry (AFCAT) from 2000 to 2006, was the french ICTAC councillor (1999-2008) and the convener for thermal analysis techniques in the european project EVITHERM (European Virtual Institute for Thermal Metrology).

Pierre also served as a convener of ISO/TC6/SC5 (Plastics) for the elaboration of standards for DSC, TGA and TMA techniques. He also is a member of the editorial committee of the Journal of Thermal Analysis and calorimetry.

In October 2012, he received the STK award (Swiss Thermal Analysis Association) for his contribution in the field of thermal analysis and calorimetry..
